SafePro Newsletter – March 2018

There’s Safe and There’s SafePro™ Safe.

Better understanding of the OSHA Final Rule to Update Industry Standards protects lives and prevents penalties.

What are the major changes in this rule?
The final rule updates the general industry standards related to hazards from slips, trips, falls and falls from heights. It provides greater flexibility in choosing a fall-protection system, brings general industry scaffold requirements in line with those for construction, adds protections for fixed ladders taller than 24 feet, requires regular inspection of walking-working surfaces, and requires training for employees who use personal fall protection equipment. https://www.osha.gov/walking-working-surfaces/index.html

Under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, employers are responsible for providing safe and healthful workplaces for their employees. OSHA’s role is to ensure these conditions nationally for workers
by setting and enforcing standards, and providing training, education and assistance.

Fall Protection – Did you know?
The rule requires employers to protect workers from fall hazards along unprotected sides or edges that are at least 4 feet above a lower level. Read the complete OSHA Fact Sheet https://www.osha.gov/Publications/OSHA3903.pdf
